Solomon’s Island, MD

Where we stayed:
Solomon’s Navy Recreation Center
RV campground (Military ID required)
Cost: $550 month (Daily rate is $25)
They also have waterfront cottages, cabins, yurts, and apartments you can rent. We highly recommend this location. Walking trails, nice parks for the kids, fishing pier, “beach” access, boat rentals, mini golf, tennis courts, pools (seasonal), numerous picnic areas with grills, ect.

What to see/do:
Annmarie Garden: Great for families with kids. The employees are very helpful and friendly. Our kids fully enjoyed the scavenger hunt; trying to find different art pieces and shapes. A perfect outdoor activity!IMG_20170310_202531
“On Watch” Monument: If you keep going past Annmarie Garden you will find this monument. Worth a stop if you are already over that way!

Perigeanx Winery: Grab a glass of your favorite wine, sit outdoors, and enjoy! They have several seating areas, a hammock, and a fire pit to help you relax.

Battle Creek Cypress Swamp Sanctuary: A half hour drive from Solomon. Kids enjoyed the walk and looking for birds/animals. It doesn’t take long to do the whole trail so we did it twice! For the most part it is stroller accessible (a few stairs in the beginning).

Walk along Solomon’s Island Road South: There are several restaurants and shops along the way. Beautiful views of the water as well.

Where to eat:
CD Café- Great service and fresh menu items.
Ruddy Duck- Very good food, service though was below average.
Lighthouse Restaurant and Dock Bar- Great atmosphere.
The Pier Restaurant- Skip the food here, but the location is nice for a drink!
The Striped Rock Restaurant- Eat outside, great food.
